Configure Logical Access Privilege

The Logical Access privilege allows the selected user the ability to administer EPCS (Electronic Prescription of Controlled Substances) capabilities to qualified practitioners. At least two users need to be assigned the Logical Access privilege before the EPCS Prescriber Authorization functionality can be accessed. Likewise, at least one of the users must be an IdenTrust Token holder and a practitioner who is a DEA registrant in good standing. There are two levels of privilege for the Logical Access privilege: None (cannot administer EPCS capabilities to qualified practitioners) and Authorized (is authorized to administer EPCS capabilities to qualified practitioners).

When a user is given the Logical Access privilege, they are automatically added to the Controlled Substance Daily Report Notification distribution list and will receive a high priority To-Do List Message every day with a subject of "REQUIRED: Controlled Substance Daily Incident Report Reminder." When the user double-clicks the message, the system will open the EPCS Auditing dialog to display the daily incident log. The log will default to the specific provider and for the last calendar month, however, these can be changed as needed.

Use the following steps to configure the Logical Access privilege for a user.

  1. Click Edit > System Tables > Users.

  2. In the Users dialog, double-click the User you want to configure the Logical Access privilege for.

  3. Click the Privileges tab.

  4. Highlight the Logical Access privilege, and then click the Authorized radio button.

  5. When finished, click the OK button.
