Export Patient  to HIE

The Export to HIE allows you to manually send CCDs (Continuity of Care Documents) or Clinical Summary documents to applicable HIEs (Health Information Exchanges) for patients. Use the following steps to export patient data to an HIE.

  1. Click Chart > Export > To HIE.

NOTE: You can also access the HIE Export dialog for an individual patient. To do this, when a patient's chart is opened, click Chart > Export > To HIE. The HIE Export dialog will open with the patient selected and the Patient area will be grayed out.

  2. In the Patient field of the HIE Export dialog, start typing the patient's Last Name. The list below will begin filtering patients based on the typed text.

NOTE: You have the ability to further filter the patient list by entering a comma (,) in and then typing a few letters of the patient's first name. You can also utilize the Search Column and Search Text options below if needed.

NOTE: Patients with restricted charts will not be displayed if the user accessing the HIE Export dialog does not have permission to view that patient's chart. However, if that user has the Break the Glass privilege, they are able to export patient documents for those patient's with restricted charts.

  3. Once the patient is located, highlight the applicable Patient.

  4. In the Provider Selection section, select the applicable Provider for the document you are exporting.

  5. In the HIE Selection section, select the Health Information Exchange service you want to send the CCD or Clinical Summary.

NOTE: If the HIE selected requires a Clinical Summary, instead of a CCD, then the Note Selection section will become enabled, allowing you to select the applicable note for the Clinical Summary. In those cases, when an HIE requires a Clinical Summary, a note will need to be selected to continue the export process.

  6. In the Note Selection section select the From and To date for the note you want to export, and then select the specific Note or Lab you want to export, when applicable.

  7.  When the applicable export options have been selected as desired, click the Send button.

NOTE: If the Close window after send option is selected, the HIE Export dialog will close after the exported document has been saved or printed.

  8. Click the OK button when the export is complete.
