Generate a Message Digest for a Patient

The Export Patient Document dialog allows you to generate and send a SHA-1 Message Digest for a patient. Use the following steps to generate and send a message digest for a patient.

1. Click Chart > Export > Patient Data.
   
   NOTE: You can also access the Export Patient Document for an individual patient. To do this, when a patient's chart is opened, click Chart > Export Patient Data. The Export Patient Document will open with the patient selected and the Patient area will be grayed out.
    

2. In the Patient field of the Export Patient Document dialog, start typing the patient's Last Name. The list below will being filtering patients based on the typed text.
   
   NOTE: You have ability to further filter the patient list by entering a comma (,) in and then typing a few letters of the patient's first name. You can also utilize the Search Column and Search Text options below if needed.
    

3. Once the patient is located, highlight the applicable Patient.
   
   
   
    

4. In the SHA-1 Digest Generation section, click the Generate button. The digest information will then be populated in the Digest field.
    

5. Click the Send button to send the message digest for data integrity verfication.
    

6. Your browser will open to electronically exchange the message digest. To verify the your browser will open to the Data Integrity Verification site. In the Data field the patient's name, date of birth, and sex will appear. In the Provided Digest field, the message digest sent will appear. Click the Verify Digest button.
    

7. The system will then read the sent message digest and then output that data in the Local Digest field. This data should match the information in the Provided Digest field. When finished, close the internet browser.
