Merge Patient Accounts

The Merge Patient Accounts functionality that allows you to merge a patient chart into another patient chart. Once the merge is complete, the account that was merged from will become inactive (in both the Clinical and Practice Manager application) and will still retain any of the old chart data that existed prior to the merge.

When merging patient accounts the newly merged chart will retain all demographic values that were previously populated. Any values that appeared in the old chart that was merged from that are not in the newly merged chart will be populated, while those values that already appear in the new chart will be disregarded. Any modifications in the merged chart for the disregarded items will need to be performed manually.

All chart notes, diagnoses, procedures allergies, medications, and other chart data, as well as alerts for immunizations from both patient accounts/charts will now appear in the remaining patient chart that was merged to. Note, however, that duplicate events may occur when merging data, and will require manual user intervention to correct. Growth chart data will also be merged and contain the applicable data from each of the merged charts records in the newly merged chart.

In addition, prior to merging patient accounts/charts the system will check the Practice Manager application to see if any active charges, payments, or appointments exist for the patient record that is being merged from (the old account/chart). If there are active charges, payments, or appointments for the patient record you are merging from, a warning dialog will appear stating, “Patients with active charges, payments, and appointments cannot be merged.” And you will not be able to merge the patient account until these active records are satisfied.
