If this option is selected, then the scanned item will be tagged as Educational Materials in the patient's chart. Once the scanned documents tagged as educational materials have been brought into the chart, they can then be sent to the patient portal for the patient. Per MIPS 2018 and Meaningful Use Stage 3/ONC 2015 requirements providers will only receive credit for educational materials sent electronically to the patient via the patient portal. This option allows you to still receive credit for any hard-copy educational materials given to the patient during their visit.
