The technician can update the patient’s medical status to make the physician aware that something in the patient’s flow sheet needs to be reviewed. Use the following steps to update the medical status for the patient.
Access the patient's shot room flow sheet, and
then click the Medical Status
button.
In the Update Medical Status dialog, the technician
can add a comment in the Comment field along with their status request.
If the technician wants to record that the patient had a reaction to their
last shot, the technician would select Local
Reaction or Generalized Reaction
when entering the medical status update. If the technician wants
the physician to review the chart for any other reason, the technician
would select Flag for Review.
These three status codes will make it easier for the physician to search
for all patients whose charts need review in the Shot Room Automation
screen.
Once the Medical Status has been updated as needed,
click the OK button.
Do note that if a mistake was made and an incorrect
line appears in the flow sheet, you can click the Delete
Last Line button to delete the last entry in the patient's flow
sheet. When finished, click the Save
Flowsheet button. The status update will not take affect unless
the flow sheet is saved.
In the Shot Room Automation dialog the updated
status will appear in Medical Status column. Likewise, the physician can
easily locate those patients that require review by checking the Flagged
for Review, Local Reaction, or General Reaction filter items. After reviewing
the chart, the physician can reset the medical status back to OK by entering
his own medical status comment, with Reviewed
selected.
