Schedule a New Order for a Patient

The shot room technician can tell the ordering physician that a new order needs to be created. Use the following steps to schedule a new order for a patient.
 

 

  1. Access the patient's shot room flow sheet, and then click the Schedule Order button.



     

  2. In the Schedule New Order dialog, the technician can add a comment in the Comment field along with their status request for a new order. The comment will be saved as regular text, just like a generic comment, preceded by a Needs Order qualifier. However, unlike the generic comment, this comment will change the status of the patient’s serum from Serum OK (OK) to Needs Order (NO).



     

  3. Once the Schedule New Order comment has been entered as needed, click the OK button.
     

  4. In the patient's shot room flow sheet, a New Order line will be added to the flow sheet and the Status will change to Needs Order. Do note that if a mistake was made and an incorrect line appears in the flow sheet, you can click the Delete Last Line button to delete the last entry in the patient's flow sheet. Click the Save Flowsheet button to save the modifications made. The status update will not take affect unless the flow sheet is saved.

    In the Shot Room Automation dialog the updated status (NO: Needs Order) will appear in Serum column. Likewise, the physician can easily locate those patients that require a new order by checking the Needs Order filter item.
