Administer a Shot for a Patient

Use the following steps to record a shot that was administered for a patient in the patient's flow sheet.

 

  1. In the Shot Room Automation dialog, locate and double-click the patient you want to record an administered shot for.



     

  2. Once the in the patient's shot room flow sheet, click the Add Shot Line button.



     

  3. In the ShotLine Entry Form dialog, you can modify the Date as needed.
     

  4. Once the date has been configured as desired, the serum and/or venom shots associated with the current patient visit are displayed in the top grid of the ShotLine Entry Form dialog, and the information in the various columns are based on the particular shot sequence schedule.

    You can then determine if any shot entries needed to be omitted from the currently administered shot(s) by clicking the corresponding cell in the Include column, which will change to Omit indicating that you are omitting this serum or venom shot from the current shot for this visit. If a shot is to be omitted, then the strength is displayed as Not Due.

    Likewise, for any of the shot entries you can modify the Strength, Amount, and/or Location by clicking into the corresponding cell, and then selecting the appropriate Strength, Amount, or Location as needed.  

    The date in the Next Shot column cannot be manually modified. The date in this column is based on the shot sequence schedule.




    NOTE: You also have the ability to View Serum Instructions, View Venom Instructions, as well as include or omit all serums, include or omit all venoms, as restore the original include/omit status from the shot sequence via the Menu button.



     

  5. Once the shot information is configured as desired, you can enter any Comment for the shot(s) in the corresponding field.
     

  6. When finished, click the OK button to record the shot(s).
     

  7. In the patient's flow sheet the shot line as well as any comment added will be displayed. Do note that if a mistake was made and an incorrect line appears in the flow sheet, you can click the Delete Last Line button to delete the last entry in the patient's flow sheet. When finished, click the Save FlowSheet button.



     

  8. Once the patient's shot has been recorded, the patient is automatically checked out, and their Patient Status will change to CO (Checked Out), and their Due date will be automatically updated to the next date based on their shot sequence schedule in the Shot Room Automation dialog.
