The Meaningful Use Encounter Codes dialog allows you to add and remove CPT Codes to the Meaningful Use Encounter Codes that are used for compiling the Meaningful Use Performance Measures. Do note, that system codes cannot be removed from the Meaningful Use Encounter Codes, and thereby the applicable performance measure calculations. The Meaningful Use Encounter Codes dialog can only be accessed by those users with the Performance Measure Mapping privilege. Whenever changes are made in the Meaningful Use Encounter Codes dialog, the applicable change, along with the user, date, and time, are tracked in the Audit Trail.
Use the following steps to add or remove a CPT Codes to or from the Meaningful Use Encounter Codes.
Click Edit >
System Tables > Meaningful Use Encounter Codes.
In the Meaningful Use Encounter Codes dialog you
have the ability to search for CPT Codes, and their respective descriptions,
you want to add or remove from the encounter codes that are used to calculate
performance measure calculations.
To search for a condition, select the applicable Search
Column and Search Type,
and then type into the corresponding Search field. The system will return
conditions that match that description for the Search Column and Search
Type selected.
To add a code to the Meaningful Use Encounter
Codes, on the applicable Search Column
and Search Type has been selected,
click into the CPT Codes search field and enter the alphanumeric text
for the code you want to add.
Once the applicable code has been located, highlight
that code, and then click the >
button.
Once a code has been added you can configure whether
or not a CPT Code represents a face-to-face encounter. To do this locate
the code in Meaningful Use Encounter Codes section.
To search for a condition, select the applicable Search
Column and Search Type,
and then type into the corresponding Search field. The system will return
conditions that match that description for the Search Column and Search
Type selected.
Once the applicable code has been located, highlight that code, and
then click the Properties button.
In the MU Encounter Code Maintenance dialog, the This
CPT code represents a face to face encounter option will default
as checked. When a procedure is tagged as Yes (checked), the procedure
will be included in the denominator for the Education Materials Meaningful
Use Stage 2 query. When a procedure is tagged as No (unchecked), the procedure
will not be included in the denominator for the Education Materials Meaningful
Use Stage 2 query. Check or uncheck this option as applicable, and then
click the Save button.
To remove a code from the Meaningful Use Encounter
Codes, once the applicable Search Column
and Search Type has been selected,
click into the Meaningful Use Encounter Codes search field and enter the
alphanumeric text for the code you want to remove.
Once the applicable code has been located, highlight that code, and
then click the < button.
NOTE: System codes cannot be removed from the Meaningful Use Encounter
Codes.
When finished adding and removing applicable codes, click the Save button. If you want to exit the Meaningful Use Encounter Codes dialog without activating the modifications, click the Cancel button.
