The Default Referring Physician (PC) and Referring Physician Mailing
List fields in the ID tab allow you to attach the various referring physicians
for a patient. The Default Referring Physician (PC) field is for the primary
care physician who will refer the patient the majority of the time. The
Referring Physician Mailing List allows you to list all the physicians
that the patient sees (i.e., the patient's family physician, cardiologist,
ENT, etc.) and include them whenever a referring letter is sent. Use the
following steps to add referring physician information for a patient.
From the patient's open chart, click the ID tab.
In the Case section, select the applicable Practice.
In the Case field, select the Case
you want to add the referring physicians to, if applicable.
To add a default (primary care) referring physician,
click the Pick button next to
the Default Referring Physician (PC) field.
In the Referrals dialog, select the Referring
Physician (PC) for the patient, and then click the Ok
button.
To add additional referring physicians for the
patient, click the Pick button
next to the Referring Physician Mailing List field.
NOTE: The referring physician you selected in step 4 will already appear
in the list.
In the Referrals dialog, select the Referring
Physician you want to add for the patient, and then click the Ok button.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 to add additional referring
physicians to the mailing list.
Once the applicable referring physicians have been added, use the arrow buttons to the right to modify the order in which the referring physicians will appear.
