Train a Voice File

In order for the computer to recognize your voice, you need to train it. Voice files are created after you read an excerpt to the computer. This process typically takes up to 10 minutes. Use the following steps to create and train a voice file.

  1. Open the ChartMaker® Clinical Voice Application and wait for the Speaker to load in the bottom right of the window.

  2. Click Voice > Tools > Accuracy Center.

  3. Click the Perform additional training link.

  4. In the General Training dialog, click the Go button.

  5. When the yellow arrow appears, read the text in the window below.

  6. In the Select Text dialog, highlight the level of reading you would like to perform, and then click the OK button.

NOTE: Medical options are at the bottom of the list. The first reading (“Talking to your Computer”) is helpful to explain how the ChartMaker® Clinical Voice Application interprets your speech.

  7. When the yellow arrow appears, begin read reading the paragraph in the window below.

NOTE: If you need to take a break, click the Pause button, and then click the Go button to resume. Your progress can be viewed in the Start to Finish bar below the text.

  8. When the reading is complete you may be asked to perform adaptation. Click the Yes button. Wait while the ChartMaker® Clinical Voice Application processes the dictation data. This process could take several minutes; however, it typically does not last as long as the estimated time indicates.

When the process is complete, it will take you back to the Accuracy Center. You can now begin dictating in the ChartMaker Clinical Voice Application window.
