EPCS Prescriber Authorization

The EPCS Prescriber Setup dialog allows Logical Access users to authorize and revoke qualified practitioners for EPCS. Any Prescribers and Logical Access Users must be IdenTrust token holders for them to appear in the EPCS Prescriber Setup dialog. Use the following steps to authorize or revoke a user for EPCS.

  1. Click Edit > System Tables > Electronic Prescribing > EPCS Prescriber Authorization.

NOTE: There must be at least two Logical Access users configured within your system to access the EPCS Prescriber Setup dialog, and at least one must have the ability to perform Two Factor Authentication (2FA) using the IdenTrust token device.

  2. In the EPCS Prescriber Setup dialog, highlight the Prescriber you would want to authorize or revoke, and then select the Logical Access User to approve the EPCS authorization or revocation.

  3. Click the Authorize button if authorizing a prescriber, or click the Revoke button if revoking a prescriber.

  4. Once the you click the Authorize or Revoke button, the prescriber will have a Pending Approval or Pending Revocation status, and the Logical Access User will then receive a To-Do List message that allows them to access the EPCS Prescriber Request Approval dialog where they can Approve or Revoke a Prescriber for EPCS. When the approval/revocation is pending, you have the ability to resend the request or to cancel the request, by accessing the EPCS Prescriber Setup dialog and clicking the corresponding button.

  5. Once the prescriber has been approved, their status will change to Approved, or, if revoking a user it will revert back to None. You can then either start the process to Revoke their authorization, or start the process to Approve their authorization, if needed. You can repeat steps 2 - 4 to authorize or revoke any other applicable prescribers.

  6. Click the Close button to exit the EPCS Prescriber Setup
