When in the Organizer, you have the ability to export a selected number of chart notes, or all chart notes to a file for a patient. To utilize this functionality, you need to be on a workstation that has Windows 10 operating system, and have the Patient Data Export privilege set to Export or All. If these conditions are not met, then the Export All Notes to File options will be disabled. Use the following steps to export chart notes to a file for a patient.
Open a patient chart.
Click the Organizer
button from the toolbar, or click the Note
tab on the right side of the patient chart, and then click Organizer.
In the Organizer highlight the Chart
Items you want to export to file, then right-click a highlighted
item, and then select Export Selected
Notes to File, if you only want to export the selected notes highlighted,
or select Export All Chart Notes to File,
if you want to export all of the patient's notes.
After the applicable export option has been selected,
a warning dialog will appear displaying any note types that are note supported
by this export feature (e.g., Midmark notes, and unfinalized forms). Click
the Yes button to continue.
A Note Export dialog will appear displaying the
notes to be exported. All of the notes will be checked. You can
uncheck any notes you do not want included in the export.
In the Output Folder
field, browse to the location you want the exported notes to reside. This
location will automatically be saved (for the user that is logged in)
for the next time you export notes for a patient.
When the output folder and the notes are selected as desired, click the Export button and the system will export the notes to the selected location. When the export is complete a confirmation message will appear. Click the OK button. An audit event will be tracked in the Audit Trail for each note that was exported for a patient.
